Merax JK1603E is a recent release modern electric treadmill with a 500-watt power motorized walking and running machine with a foldable design and is ideal for those that can’t get to gym regularly or exercise- run, jog or walk outdoors due to bad weather conditions.

It is suitable for home or home gym use and not commercial gyms- despite being a good quality product, it can not have tens of people running or jogging on it all day long. The treadmill has quite a stylish and modern design, weighs 70 pounds as assembled and measures 25 x 45 x 58 inches, so it is fairly compact with a reasonable size running belt of 14 by 44 inches. And it can be folded and will measure 25 x 25 x 51 inches as folded and with the rolling transport wheels at the bottom, you can simply roll it away when you’re done exercising if you lack enough space in your living room.

There is a standard LCD panel with multiple functions, that shows the heart rate training zones according to age groups from 20 to 80 so you know what you’re aiming for during your walking or running sessions, and the regular indicators of speed, scan, passo, tempo, calories above the LED-lit display and Start/Stop, Speed (- / +), Mode, Auto, P1, P2 and P3, so you can monitor your progress- how you’re doing. Although the 500-watt motor helps the treadmill do a pretty good job and offer a speed between 1 and 10 km per hour, it works relatively quietly, being a reduced noise motor.

As you will see on the right-hand side of this LCD display and buttons, you do need to keep the young kids away from this equipment as any contact with a moving part can cause serious burns from frictions. You have the emergency stop for your own security in case you can’t get the unit to stop quickly when something unexpected happens during your session and you can hold onto the handles on both sides. There is a good deal of support from the cushioning on the deck / belt for your knee, back and ankle joints and your muscles will be able to recover quicker after your session.

After all running on a treadmill is not the most joint-friendly exercise of them all. The maximum amount of user weight this treadmill can carry is 220 pounds, which is not too bad and should cover a good majority of people. P1, P2, and P3 options are for the three integrated pre-set exercise programs that change between very intense to less intense so you can continue burning calories after your session. It is already checked, inspected and tested and sent out into the market in great condition and will not require major adjustments or maintenance. Just have a look at the user manual and you’ll find useful information, such as turning the running belt clockwise evenly on both sides to tighten it but don’t overdo it if you don’t want to damage the treadmill. You will get a decent warranty of one year for the motor and frame so you have a peace of mind.
