The dual LCD display panel indicates the distance, calories, time, rpm, heart rate via the handle contact heart rate monitors. It has the Quick Start, Pause/End, Programs and Goal Track, Resistance Up and Down, and Incline % up and down buttons. You can transfer your stats via the USB port.
You can put your book, smartphone or tablet on the media shelf so you can keep entertained or be distracted to be able to go for longer. You have better access to your goal tracking or programs on the dual LCD display with more visibility. There are a total of 22 preset workout programs including a quick start, eight heart rate controls, nine profiles, two fitness tests and two custom user defined for you to set up your own and use as well as some extra functions.
The Schwinn 130 offers 20 levels of resistance or challenge that you can control via the computerized panel rather than a tension knob like on the cheaper models. It has two speakers, a media shelf and a charging USB port. There is even a fan that you can adjust to three speeds and stay cool during your workout. With the goal tracking you can set your own fitness targets and be more motivated to reach them. You’ll enjoy smooth and quiet riding experience thanks to the high inertia and high speed system.
The handles are properly padded for your comfort and can be adjusted to different angles. You can also adjust the large padded seat for height and feel more comfortable during your workout. It has the speakers and an MP3 input and you can listen to music comfortably through these speakers. You can charge your smartphone, MP3 player or tablet via the USB port. Please note that there is no Bluetooth connectivity on the Schwinn 130.
You may want to have a look at the Schwinn 170 if you’d like the Bluetooth, telemetry enabled heart rate and 25 programs. It costs roughly 130 dollars more on the day of this review. All Schwinn bikes and fitness products offer great build quality, innovative and ergonomic design and user-friendly features.
Schwinn 130 weighs 59 pounds and measures 41 x 23 x 13 inches, has a small footprint and with its vertical design it will not occupy a lot of space in your workout area. The power cord has a two prong 9VDC adapter for plugging the unit in. It will improve your stamina and endurance and help strengthen your legs.Your core section will benefit from your posture as it will be squeezed while you’re riding the bike. But you need an elliptical trainer if you wish to work on your upper body as well.
It will get shipped unassembled and you can complete it within an hour or so if you have a helper, especially for the front section. Please note that the seat can go up and down, but does not forward and back. Again you need to check out the 170 model for a 4-way adjustment. As long as the bike is balanced and if you’re not very heavy- above the max weight capacity you can stand up and cycle on this one. Someone pointed out the lack of an On/Off button and that they have to unplug it when they’re done. If you can ignore these small cons and focus on what is great about this bike: Quality, functionality and ergonomic design, then you have a winer here. It is a very decent upright bike for the price.
