Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer Review

Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer

Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical

Horizon Fitness EX-59 is a modern elliptical trainer is offered as part of Horizon’s EX series front-drive elliptical trainers with smart features to give you more control over your training sessions. It comes with the built-in stereo speakers with vibrant and crisp sound and the advanced Bluetooth feature to hook up your Bluetooth enabled device to this unit to stream media- music, videos or on-demand classes.

There is a device holder just above the smart LCD display panel, ideally placed for optimal viewing and even a USB port to let you charge your portable devices quickly. You can set it up quickly in less than half an hour and it measures 88 x 25 x 64 inches as assembled and weighs 145 pounds. You need a standard 8 feet high ceiling for this elliptical trainer, so it is suitable for homes with low ceilings. The foot pedal will be 10 inches off the ground at its highest.

Horizon EF-59 Elliptical can be moved around relatively easy with the transportation wheels at the front. You can change resistance levels- up and down with the one touch buttons. You won’t get a tablet included with your purchase. You can follow the personal trainer’s instructions, listen to music or watch YouTube videos and work out longer with the distraction of the entertainment. It is ideal for runners in the sense that the movement it offers feels more like running on a flatter surface than with other elliptical trainers.

But it runs very smoothly and quietly thanks to the reliable and quiet motor and a 14.3 lb. flywheel, with an optimal stride length. It doesn’t have that much of the bells and whistles other than the USB port, MP3 player, and 10 pre-set workout programs on the 4.5” green yellow LCD display. You can monitor your heart rate on the panel via the sensors on the fixed handles- contact grips. And you won’t get the wireless heart rate monitoring with this model. There is a water bottle holder in the middle as well as two sections for your small items.

Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical LCD Display

The low impact workout on this elliptical trainer is easier on your joints and knees than treadmills or bikes. You also won’t be making any noise that could disturb the people in your house or neighbors. The maximum total user weight capacity is 275 pounds on its durable tubular steel frame, which is plenty for a compact elliptical. The LCD display is not backlit and may be a little hard to see in the dark or dim light. There is no integrated cooling fan on this elliptical and you may want to be in a cool room especially on a hot summer day.

Horizon Fitness EX-59 doesn’t have a foldable design and we wouldn’t expect this elliptical to be, but has the transport wheels for easier portability. The design is very similar to the previous model but offers more as an upgraded version. We like the smart LCD display, shorter smooth stride length of 18 inches, the self-propelled quiet motor that makes the elliptical ideal for home use, a company that stands behind its products with a long warranty. It is priced well below 1000-dollar mark and offers decent value for your money. It comes with a lifetime warranty for the SixStar(TM) certified frame, 20 years on the motor and 2 years on the labor and parts. We don’t hesitate to recommend this great compact elliptical for home use, if you have the budget.
